Creatinine
Creatinine (Cr, CRE, CREA) is a waste product created after necessary energy is expended when muscles are exercised. Almost all of it is secreted from the glomerulus by the kidneys.
When kidney functions are impaired or degraded, creatinine remains in the blood without being filtered out. Thus, the increase of creatinine in blood indicates that filtration of blood by the glomerulus is not functionally optimally. In other words, it suggests impairment of kidney function. A low level of creatinine in blood suggests that there are abnormalities associated with muscle functions.
