Announcement of HPV Catch-Up Vaccination

Vaccination (HPV vaccine) is effective in preventing cervical cancer.

The HPV vaccine is a routine vaccination (targeted age group: those in the 6th grade of elementary school to 1st year of high school) based on the Immunization Act. A catch-up vaccination system was established to ensure fair vaccination opportunities to those who did not receive the vaccination during their eligibility period when the vaccination was not actively recommended. As such, women born between April 2, 1997 and April 1, 2007 are eligible to receive the vaccination with the cost covered by public expense until March 2025.

In response to this, the University’s Health Service Center and the University Hospital have collaborated to make the vaccinations available on campus to those who are registered as residents in the 23 wards of metropolitan Tokyo.

If you would like to receive vaccinations at the university, please check the information below.

Nonavalent Cervical cancer vaccine (Sylgard®9)

If you have received the bivalent vaccine (Cervarix®) or quadrivalent vaccine (Gardasil®) more than once, it is generally recommended that you receive the same type of vaccine, but it is possible for you to receive the nine-valent vaccine (Sylgard® 9). (The "valence" indicates how many types of HPV the vaccine is compatible with. At the university, only the 9-valent vaccine, Sylgard® 9, will be provided. Sylgard®9 is named as Gardasil®9 in most of other countries.
