Students

In addition to the Students' Yearly Health Check-up items that apply to each student, items required for teaching practice and care practice (measles/rubella antibody tests, visual acuity, hearing) will be added.

Only conducted for those aged 35, 40 or older, and Health Check-up for Newly Hired Employees and Health Check-up for Long term Travelers.

【Non-Mandatory Univ. Tokyo Standard Items
To promote and maintain the health of all members, in addition to legally required items, the University of Tokyo offers medically beneficial examination items which include white blood cell count, uric acid levels, kidney function, and fecal occult blood (for those over 40 at the end of the academic year) and so on. No additional blood or urine samples are needed for these, except for the stool samples. These are provided free of charge, and we strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.

Please note that your written consent on the health check-up form is required to undergo these additional tests, and individual items cannot be selected or omitted—the entire set of non-mandatory screenings will be conducted as a package.

Important points for the various health check-ups

    Please wear clothing that is easy to put on and take off at the examination. Stockings should not be worn to the examination.

    Chest X-ray examination

    ・Please wear or bring a plain T-shirt. → Click here
    ・If you are unable to prepare a plain T-shirt yourself, you can purchase one at a cost of JPY 800 on the day of your check-up. Color and size cannot be chosen. This service is only available at the Hongo/Komaba Health Service Center.

    ・If you are with an insulin pump or blood glucose sensor which cannot be removed at the health check-up venue, please consult with the Hongo Health Service Center in advance.

    Information concerning the blood tests

    ・Analysis of the blood in the fasting state is ideal.
    ・Those who have their check-up in the morning should finish eating by 9:00 p.m. and avoid eating or drinking something with sugars or calories after that.
    ・Those who have their check-up in the afternoon should finish a light breakfast by 7:00am and avoid eating or drinking something with sugars or calories after that.
    ・Drinking water, or other non-caloric beverages is recommended to prevent dehydration.
    ・Please consult with your doctor in advance about the timing of your medication when taking the medical check-ups.
    ・Please refrain from drinking alcohol and doing too-much exercise the day before the test.

    Urine sample

    You will receive a urine sample container before the health check-up. Please take your urine sample first thing on the morning of the check-up.
    ・Those who do not receive a sample container from the administrative department should pick up a sample container from the Health Service Center in advance

    ・If you are menstruating, collect urine with care for blood contamination, pre-cleaning, for example.

    Stool sample (only for those specified)

    ・Samples can be taken up to 4 days prior to your check-up, and you can submit only during the health check-up period.
    ・Please submit the stool sample containers for two days.

    ・If you are menstruating, you cannot take the test. You do not need to submit a stool sample container.

    Information concerning the visual acuity

    ・If you wear glasses or contact lenses for work, please wear them during the check-up.         

    Others

    Online Medical Questionnaires and reservations are required (The dates and times for the Check-ups for Students Enrolled in April are specified). You may not be able to take the health check-up at that time if you have not completed the questionnaire or made a reservation.
    ・If you need assistance at the health check-up venue, please contact the Health Service Center in advance. →click here
    ・Please take voluntary measures to prevent infection. 
    ・If you are feeling unwell, please cancel your reservation by yourself.
    Please do not bring valuables with you. The Division for Health Service center will not be responsible for any loss or damages during the health check-ups.
    (For Students): The certificate of check-up results/medical certificate can be issued approximately 3 weeks after the health check-up, click here.
    Please refer to the information provided here if you would like to use the results of a health check-up results from an external medical institution as a substitute.
